Voices Supporting JIVINITI Coalition

“I’m an ethical vegan because so many people of color are suffering from chronic illnesses due to diets consisting of animal products. I’m vegan for the planet because going vegan is the single biggest action anyone can take to help stop climate change. I’m vegan for the animals because they deserve to live in peace just like we do. I support the JIVINITI women’s coalition because their campaign touches upon all these topics that are close to my heart. I became an ethical vegan on my own when I was 6 after I found out the pain and suffering animals go through and learned that I didn’t need to eat them or drink their fluids to survive. I’m an ethical vegan and I hope Vice President Kamala Harris will consider being one too. I urge the Biden-Harris administration to take decisive steps towards shutting down large scale animal agriculture and ending systemic racism and the public health crisis we are in right now. My generation looks up to our national leaders – especially, powerful women leaders like Vice President Harris - to help secure a happy and a healthy world for our tomorrow.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc worldwide, causing mass suffering and death on a scale unprecedented in recent history. But those who have borne the worst impacts of this terrible virus and its accompanying economic effects have been women, especially women of color. Many of the pre-existing inequities have been deepened during the course of the pandemic. I wholeheartedly support the JIVINITI coalition in initiating these vital conversations focused on women of color in the U.S. and for marginalized women worldwide. The science is clear: we need to shift towards a plant-based national nutrition guidance that will enable us to start solving the public health crisis we're facing, prevent future zoonotic pandemics, and improve the nation's health. We must turn food deserts into food oases, particularly in communities of color where nutritional foods are scarce. Switching to a whole-food, plant-based diet taught me about the transformative power of what's on our dinner plate - with the new Biden-Harris Administration in office, it's time we take this conversation national."

“Being an animal loving, disabled woman who has received much prejudice and abuse in the past but fought on to overcome many adversities, I am inspired to support all sentient beings to be treated equally. An animal-based economy oppresses everyone. Zoonotic pandemics, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and B117, the new highly contagious mutation of the SARS-COV-2 virus, are wreaking havoc on human health - physically, psychologically and financially. It is so simple to change the physical side by changing one's diet and boosting our immune system by going plant based, helping people survive Covid 19, rather than always looking at cures, and making excuses. The impact is worse on women, especially women of color, in the U.S and around the world. I pledge my support to the JIVINITI Women's coalition and I invite Vice President Kamala Harris to support plant-forward policy change and to go vegan.”
